"War for peace" & "Liberating the Tamils"

It was our raping, looting Vietnam. And stinking, bleeding Afghanistan. I still remember the continuous rumble of our creaky Russian-made planes carrying the IPKF up the invisible ram sethu for Sri Lanka many years ago. Sooner than expected, mauled and wiser, we withdrew and our war over there was over. But the lions called Sinhalese and the Tamils led by tigers continue to fight. And ever since I saw the bharat ka lal called Advani take off on his Rath Yatra, I'm constantly reminded of the reason why lions and the tigers in a tear-drop shaped cage continue to kill each other. In Sri Lanka, it was how the Buddhist Sinhalese majority imposed themselves on the Hindu, Christian and Muslim Tamil minority. In India, it is the Hindu Majority versus the rest. It's easy to repeat the same mistake the Sinhalese politicians made. Hopefully, Indian democracy will control the hero of the Kandahar hijack drama and his cronies. Afterall, it's easier to light a fire.

Reminds me of a post by Dilip where he explains about Vatican's concern over Orissa (or France's, or Americas, or of any country which has made a remark on Orissa incidents). He says it's almost the same as our 'concern' about Sri Lanka. It is sad that nationalism and it's strange feeling blinds us all.
